There are plenty of things that make a wedding a special event. But, other than the happy couple, there is another thing that makes the night memorable – the wedding cake! This sweet surprise can be one of the best things about your big day, so why not make it memorable?
If you feel like you don’t know anything about wedding cakes, do not worry. As a wedding photographer Bryllupsfotograf København I can help you go over the basics.
Check the venue and their menu
Some of the venues offer a wedding cake of their own (especially if it is a restaurant). That is why it is first important to discuss the specifics with their management team. For instance, you may wish to have your own cake design and book a separate baker, but if not communicated properly, you may end up with two cakes at your reception.
Another important aspect is the design, so if you want to match the wedding cake with the scenery, then go to the venue and get inspired! Inhale all the colours and explain your vision to your baker.
The right vendor
The job is halfway done if you choose the right vendor. Like choosing a Copenhagen wedding photographer, the same goes for the baker! Since this is your special day, the cake should be more than perfect. So, the baker should be able to click with you by understanding your wishes and vision. The rest of their job will be delivering excellence.
Check your budget
In some cases, I have noticed that couples do not leave a large piece of the budget for their wedding cake. What you need to remember is that you are not only paying for the cake. You are paying for the design, the craftsmanship, the creativity, the ingredients, and the love the baker pours into realising your vision. So before splurging on something less significant for your wedding, check if you have the right budget for a proper cake.
Placing the order
Talk to your baker about this. I am more than certain that they will get you into their calendar after your second or third meeting. But, you still need to place official order. It all depends on the baker – if they are professional, they will give you precise info on whether they are okay with the date or not.
Sizes and flavours
After the initial meeting with the vendor, you should get a little taste of what they are doing. Have a cake tasting and try all the flavours they offer.
On the subject of size, they should advise you which size is the best based on your guest list.
Delivery
The easiest part of ordering the perfect wedding cake is the delivery. It is usually delivered by the bakery on the day of your wedding and it will come in perfect shape! The next step is to have your venue display it during your reception and celebrate!
