There has been a recent surge for wedding photographer taking wedding reception photos. This is not surprising considering that DSLR camera prices have come down significantly well within the reach of affordability that anybody that is willing to start up on this hobby would eventually stray into the lucrative market of wedding photography.
Like the bride and groom, the maxim of “it takes two to Tango” holds true too for creating the perfect wedding reception photos. It takes the daring bridal couple willing to try something different from the usual wedding studio photography and of course the ingenuity and creativity of the wedding photo team to come up with something unique and special for each wedding couple.
Although the central focus on wedding photography is on the bridal couple, a wedding reception event is a celebration, a celebration of two persons who will be lifelong partners in life. Marriage is not just the marrying of a couple but also of two family communities, the bride side as well as the bridegroom side. And it is hoped that the celebration will culminate in fostering and bringing together not just two lives but two whole communities into one big happy family clan.
But before the wedding reception event, there is, of course, wedding photography. Something beautiful and pleasing to cherish the moments of finally tying the knot. With the digital age, wedding photos are no longer just kept bound up in some nice leather-bound wedding photo album, but can also be kept in various digital devices notwithstanding the ubiquitous mobile phone and especially that expensive PDA phone where with a flick of a button, the couple can admire and relive the wonderfully made wedding photos.
Capturing cherished wedding reception photos is not always cheap if the wedding photographer is keen on improving their technique, skill, and creativity, it takes a certain amount of heavy investment not just on photography equipment but also in attending seminars and learning up the craft.
The amateur wedding photographer is dime a dozen. Truly with better and cheaper digital photography equipment nowadays anybody can call themselves a photographer just by obtaining a digital SLR. It has been said it is not the photography equipment that makes the perfect picture but rather the person behind the lens.
However for a bridal couple on the cheap, who need to conserve their hard earn cash and not simply splurge, getting a wedding photographer that is just embarking on a wedding photography career may or may not be a wise decision. If the person got talent, you might just get yourself a good deal. It is a risk you have to take. Because it is a serious job, it would definitely be better than your cousin or friend who just got themselves a brand new Nikon or Canon DSLR.
The budding semi-pro wedding photographer is getting very seriously into his craft and investing his time and money into getting himself well equipped with camera accessories and improving his skill by attending seminars and learning up techniques from books, magazines and experimenting with friends. They have a portfolio to show his wedding photos and they certainly do not charge cheap as they will need to recoup the cost of investing. Even then he is still not earning anything out from his wedding photo job, just a little something to cover some of his/her expenses.
Some of the wedding reception photos actually looked really professionally done and are definitely keepers. They do on-location shooting including destination wedding photos and may also provide wedding photo album for a price. Choose them if you have the dough but look through the portfolio and see if their style is what you like or have in mind.
The commercial pros are into wedding photography full time. Perhaps even having a photography studio for some posed shots. They spend many a time and money to build up their reputation and have some distinctive shots and unusual angles in their wedding photography. Look through their portfolio and see whether this is what you may like. Each pro wedding photographer will have their own style and definitely it won’t come cheap.
The ultimate wedding photographers are probably beyond most average wedding couples. They are in a way celebrities themselves, and would not simply take in any photography job. They will choose high profile personalities that would add on to their portfolios. Their technique is meticulous and they have an eye for detail that would normally be overlooked by most average portrait photographers.
Bravo to you if you can ever afford them, but likely you would also be overshadowed by their personality and portrait photography and of course wedding reception photos would not be worth their while to do it.
